Summary: A 2-minute video introduces the workflow for new learning community members, helping course participants get started on Slack and use it effectively throughout the course.
Challenge: Few learners actively engage with their peers in the course community due to limited experience using Slack for communication with instructors and peers.
Solution: By guiding learners through the community onboarding process, I encouraged active participation, prompting them to share insights and support peers with questions.
Results: The onboarding experience led to strong activation, with over 50% of learners posting within the first month. Engagement remained high over time, with 55% posting, 7% reacting, and 38% viewing learning community content month over month.
Mentorship Program

Summary: A mentorship program was launched to support learners working toward Google Professional Certificates on Coursera.
Challenge: Research from Harvard and MIT shows that average completion rates for MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) typically range from 5–15%, influenced by factors such as learner motivation and course difficulty.
Solution: The mentorship program offered learners personalized support to help them overcome these challenges and stay on track.
Results: I identified program graduates as potential mentors through data analysis and interviews, then onboarded them into the mentorship program. Most successfully completed their volunteer terms and received a public badge in recognition. By providing ongoing support to learners facing challenges, the program significantly boosted learner engagement throughout the course.
MOOC Resources Guide for Learning Community

Summary: A comprehensive guide compiling all references from video lectures in a University of Pennsylvania MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on Coursera was created and published on SlideShare, LinkedIn’s slide-hosting platform.
Challenge: In the video lectures, learners saw links to books, articles, videos, and other resource, but the links weren’t clickable, requiring them to manually enter URLs in their browser.
Solution: I created a reference document that includes a list of all the links mentioned in the video lectures to support further independent learning.
Results: Since its publication in 2017, the resource guide has remained one of the most upvoted posts in the Coursera Gamification MOOC’s in-course forum, helping thousands of learners around the world.

Summary: A peer learning community platform was designed to connect patients with similar diagnoses, while ensuring their privacy and enabling meaningful peer learning.
Challenge: Fostering trust among anonymous patients posed a key challenge for effective learning community management.
Solution: We developed a privacy-focused platform that fosters patient interaction while fully complying with healthcare data regulations and meeting the highest security standards.
Results: As a stealth startup, the project is currently operating under limited public visibility while developing and refining its offering. Despite this, the platform is already making a real impact, empowering patients through shared experiences, meaningful human connection, and access to health education. It’s helping real people every day.
